Why hire an Interior Designer?

GARDEN CITY, NY

Access to trade only vendors and exclusive products

A huge perk of working with a professional designer is the insight to trade only, exclusive products and materials.  While working in the industry for many years, we’ve built relationships with many trade only vendors.  Our vendors and sales reps notify us of exclusive events and trade shows where we learn about their products and new items to the market.  Many of these vendors also specialize in customization, resulting in a one-of-a-kind products designed specifically for our clients.

Avoid costly mistakes

At the initial meeting with a client, we measure out the space that is to be designed and scale the correct sizing of furniture pieces, cabinetry, fixtures, etc.  This space planning idea helps determine the appropriate size of everything in the room.  There have been so many stories about people ordering the wrong size or type of furniture and then they are stuck with it.  This is a very avoidable problem when hiring a designer.

Professional Planning

With over 10 years of experience, we are well aware of the process of a project, whether it be big or small.  We work very closely with the client and all other trades involved on the project to manage the timing of everything.  Our goal is to make sure that the project runs smoothly from start to finish.  We build a calendar for the project and work with all trades to make sure, for example, the flooring gets installed and finished at the right time and the walls get painted when they need to be.

Budgeting

One of the most quintessential details of our process is preparing a budget specifically catered to our clients project.  Everything is itemized out, room by room, from the tile on the walls to the hardware on the cabinets.  Without a detailed budget, unexpected costs may arise which may not have been originally accounted for.  We want to make sure our clients are financially comfortable with the project with no unforeseen expenses.  The budget is also updated as the project progresses to include all manufacturer updates and payments.

Less stress

Building a home and going through a renovation project can bring on a ton of stress and can also be very time consuming, especially if the client has to manage it themselves.  When a client hires an interior designer, the stress is greatly eliminated, as everything is taken care of from day one to completion.  We work very closely alongside all of the trades involved on the project with an ‘all hands on deck’ attitude throughout the entire process.  All of the details, from scheduling deliveries to getting a paint schedule to the painter on time, are managed.  The objective is to make sure that we are always ahead of the game and we do not delay anything on the project.

Increase homes value

Design, to us, is considered an investment to the property.  Not only is a freshly designed space aesthetically pleasing, but it is also very valuable.  For example, when a client redesigns their 1950’s bathroom with all new fixtures, tile, and plumbing, this not only looks great, but also adds more value to the home because it is no longer outdated.
